  • ‘Launch Your Website in Three Hours’

Hosted by: Asian American Journalists Association
    My Role: Moderator
Description: In this day and age, having a web presence is hardly an option for a journalist — it’s a necessity.

An online portfolio of your work makes it easy to share clips and your resume reel with prospective employers. It also makes it easy for them to follow your work, and for you to show off your Internet skills.

We know. You’re thinking, I don’t know how to make a webpage!

It’s easier than you think. The AAJA San Diego workshop “Launch Your Website in Three Hours” is meant for journalists who’ve never used anything more complicated than e-mail or Facebook.

Together, we’ll build a website on WordPress.com, a free site used by thousands worldwide. We’ll show you how to set up a blog, or simply create an easy and attractive way to showcase your work. (Here’s an example.)

WordPress is also used by news organizations on their websites, so mastering this easy-to-use tool can help in your job.

So join us April 18. In the time it takes to watch the new Brad Pitt movie, you could have a professional website ready to go.

    When: April 18, 2009, 9 a.m. – noon
Where: UC San Diego Extension, Sorrento Mesa
