I’m doing a fast. Cutting news from my mental diet altogether. No newspapers, weekly magazines, online news sites, or TV news.

I love the new business card my designer created for me. It’s warm, beautiful and a wonderful expression of who I am.

In a random act of gratitude, I gave away 15 hours of free writing work this year. Ten hours to one client, five hours to another.

I had great things to write; I was blessed with excellent projects; I loved my clients, I was grateful for all my work. But I couldn’t get anything done.

My boyfriend showed me how to make fried rice last night. It was a wonderful batch, filled with turkey Spam, eggs, onions, peas and parsley.

In the process, I gained some insights about writing, too.

As a freelance writer, it’s easy to have all the time in the world, all the flexibility in the world, all the freedom to piss away your hours, so you don’t know how you spent the days. A timesheet keeps me accountable – to me.
